I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the states of New York and North Carolina. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and obtained my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Fordham University. I am also a Certified Mindfulness Instructor.
I have experience working with adolescents in school-based settings, as well as in individual counseling. In both of these environments, I have worked extensively with parents to improve communication and understanding within families. I also counsel adults of every age, working with many going through major life transitions and milestones. I have trained extensively in effective evidence-based therapies in order to provide all of my clients with the best available treatments based on their individual needs.
I believe in approaching therapy from a strength-based mindset, utilizing mindfulness as a critical part of the therapeutic process. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Neurofeedback, DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) which I utilize when appropriate. I employ a variety of techniques in helping clients who are experiencing symptoms from trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders. I also have extensive knowledge and experience with helping people who are in major life transitions, including divorce and the death of a loved one. I draw on my own personal experiences with grief and what I learned going through the helping process as a client.
I believe that the most important aspect of therapy is the trusting relationship and rapport established between a therapist and a client. It's important that clients feel heard and respected, because they are the artists of their own life. As a therapist, I am here to listen, guide, challenge, reflect, and help you reach your goals.
